The fleshy sweetness of the pods makes Jalapeños ideal for making jalapeño poppers, guacamole, salsas, tamales, sauces and my personal favourite antojitos. You can also dry the chillies before grinding them to a powder which can then be used to make chipotle chilli. Alternatively, you can also dice and pickle the chillies. The range of options accorded to you when cooking with Jalapeños explains why they are one of the most popular chillies in the world.
Habanero chillies are one happy looking bunch. They have colourful skins that ripen from green to yellow and then orange as they mature. They are small, cute, shiny and have waxy skin. But as much as their looks are inviting, they are among the hottest chilli peppers commonly grown in the world.
Serrano chillies are a must-have in the garden. Love jalapenos but want a green spicy chillies with a little kick? This small finger-shaped Mexican staple is hotter than a Jalapeño. The Serrano chillies is similar in colour and fresh flavour, but smaller and meatier. The Serrano chilli is a great tasting chillies that will grow up to 10cm long with medium-thin walls that are perfect for stuffing!
No matter how many rare and unique hot chillies you add to your collection, some of the basics are still the best and the Cayenne chilli is one of them!
Among the most popular and well known of the New Mexico chillies, the Anaheim chilli is a slightly sweet chilli with just a little pop. A long-time favourite of home cooks and chefs alike, the Anaheim chilli is very versatile and family friendly, even for people who typically don’t like spicy foods.
