Catmint has slender spikes of lavender-blue summer flowers and aromatic, sage-green leaves. This clump-forming perennial will form open drifts of blue flowers over the summer months, and makes a lovely informal edging plant for paths and borders. When it's trodden underfoot the cascading foliage releases an intoxicating aroma.
A favourite amongst garden designers because its long bloom period makes it the ideal filler plant in the mixed perennial border.
Veteran gardeners are probably already aware of nepeta’s versatility in the garden, from its popular partnering with roses to the softening effect it has on hard edges. Plant it at the front of the border, edging a path, so that you can catch the full scent from its aromatic leaves.
Bees and butterflies love it too. The only drawback is if you have a cat, he/she might make a nest in the middle of the Catmint.
