Butterfly Milkweed, also known as “Butterfly Weed” will produce beautiful clusters of orange flowers. The plants themselves grow to a mature height of about 60cm tall. The Butterfly Milkweed is known for attracting an array of beneficial insects such as bees, lady bugs, hummingbirds moths and most importantly butterflies. Butterfly Milkweed is grown as a perennial flowering plant which will return each year from its deeply established root system.
Butterflies are facing tragic losses due to the destruction of its common food source, Asclepias, or more commonly known as Butterfly weed.
Asclepias is very important to the butterfly as it is categorized as a host plant and many butterflies look to it for its rich source of nectar.
